Zach Hall L-MD, Joshua "Yoda" Cowles L-WI, Bart Larsen L-IL, Zachery Relyea L-VT, Richard Speidel I-FL ====================================================================================== A Bill To eliminate Agricultural Federal advertising campaigns in an effort to return the market to the people of the United States. Be it enacted by the Senate of the United States of MicroAmerica, Section 1. Short Title. This act may be cited as the "Consumer Agriculture Protection Act" Section 2. Findings. Congress of the United States of MicroAmerica finds that (a) Government advertising campaigns are less effective than those of law abiding Corporations (1) The "Got Milk?" campaign has reported drops in milk usage since its inception. (2) The "Cotton" campaign has added ineffectively to the subsidies for the Agriculture Industry and has resulted in no major market changes (b) Federal advertising for the Department of Agriculture amounts to $1,849,000,000 for Fiscal Year 2006. (c) The recent elimination of Federal subsidies for the Agricultural industry is incidentally influential on these advertising campaigns. Section 3. Elimination of Agricultural Advertising (a) Effective immediately upon passage of this Act, all Agricultural advertising campaigns will be halted. (b) Effective for Fiscal Year 2007, all payments to the Department of Agriculture for Marketing are ceased. (c) The Department of Agriculture is hereby injunctioned to cease all advertising until such time as Congress deems it necessary through a repeal of this legislation. (d) Prior to Fiscal Year 2007, the Department of Agriculture will submit a detailed accounting of all marketing spending in FY2006. Upon recieving this information, Congress will take all excess funding set aside for the Department of Agriculture in 2006 and put it toward the Federal Debt.
